Editors have released a reflective new single ‘Call It In’ and announced a 2027 UK and European tour – where they’re set to open a brand new venue in Birmingham.
The Brummie rockers returned with their first new music of 2026, ‘Call It In’, via Play It Again Sam. It follows frontman Tom Smith’s debut solo record ‘There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light‘, which landed last year, and the band’s most recent album in 2022, ‘EBM‘.
Now, Editors are teasing their new chapter to come with ‘Call It In’. “We spent a lot of summer ‘25 holed up in rural Gloucestershire, working on songs with all of us in a room, in a more traditional band set up,” Smith said in a press release.
“‘Call It In’ is one of the newest songs we worked on, it’s a song about asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread, finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life,” he added. You can take a listen to the new single below.
Alongside their new music, Editors have announced their headline 2027 tour dates in the UK and Europe. The band will open a brand new 3,500 capacity venue called The Warehouse in Birmingham’s Villa Park. When ‘EBM’ last dropped, NME gave it a three-star review, writing: “Unlike their early records, on ‘EBM’, Editors straddle heart-tugging hits with their now more familiar, visceral rock numbers. Synth-stabbing ‘Strawberry Lemonade’, for instance, is as unnerving as it is foot stomping with its screeching bleeps and drum beats. Elsewhere, the bludgeoning ‘Picturesque’ comes on like a frenzied attack to the senses and ‘Strange Intimacy’ is a head-spinning closer that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.
“‘EBM’, then, goes some way to bringing the seasoned band back to what they do best, all the while pushing things forward.”
