Buckingham Palace has shared details of the speech today, which will mainly focus on the bond between the US and the UK and on the importance of the special relationship. The speech has been prepared with input from the UK Government, it has been reported.
However, while speeches like these are usually written far in advance, it has been reported that the King has made a last-minute change to the speech.
This last-minute change will reportedly be added to the opening remarks of the address, before the King moves on to address big topics.
The monarch will honour “people of all faiths and none” in his address, and will tell representatives he brings “the highest regard and friendship of the British people to the people of the United States” during the US’ landmark anniversary year.
It is also expected that the King will discuss his personal faith as he speaks about the moral responsibilities shared by both nations and the global impact the US and the UK can have when they work together.
Other topics to be mentioned in the King’s speech will include defence matters, security, trade and economic relations.
