Nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards will be announced on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles, where the stars of critically acclaimed shows will soon vie for the coveted statuettes honoring television’s best shows and performances from the past year.
Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) and Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere) will present the nominations at the Academy’s Wolf Theatre in a live ceremony beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT.
Last year, Severance led the way with 27 nominations, followed by The Penguin with 24 and The Studio and The White Lotus with 23 apiece.
The Pitt, Hacks, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking and Stranger Things are among the returning shows expected by critics to garner nominations, while newcomers Pluribus, Widow’s Bay and DTF: St. Louis are also likely to receive nods.
This year’s competition will include 118 categories. Final-round voting for this year’s nominees will run from Aug. 17 through Aug. 26.
The 78th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on NBC and stream live on Peacock from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 14.
Mariska Hargitay, Emmy-winning star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will host the show — the first woman to do so in 15 years.
