Military service is mandatory for men in a lot of countries around the world, including Taiwan. A lot of idols and celebrities in the country have been arrested on the grounds of evading this mandatory service, and have been making headlines. Now, soon after the arrests were made, one of the idol’s group has announced that they will be suspending all activities, leaving fans surprised.
Celebrities arrested on allegations of evading military service
A few days ago, it was reported by Koreaboo that 4 well-known celebs in Taiwan had been accused of this, and had actually admitted to forgery and bribery charges to evade arrest. This included actors Chen Bolin and Hsiu Jiekai, Liljay, a former member of Lollipop, and last but not least, Energy member Chang Shuwei.They all admitted to the crime of paying NT$100,000 and NT$300,000 in bribe money in order to evade mandatory military service. Soon after the news was shared online, Energy shared a shocking update on their social media channels, leaving their fans in shock over the sudden update about their future schedules. Their post read that all public performances that were planned for the group in the near future have been canceled until further notice. The estimated date was posted as June 2026, leaving fans of the group, as well as netizens, in utter shock.
Online reactions
As soon as the post was shared online on the group’s accounts, fans rallied under the post to express their sadness and shock over the update. One person’s comment read, “Shenzhen live was suddenly cancelled, so sad, I really waited so many years, waiting for the annual meeting of the whole life to come to the mainland, and it was shattered again….”, while another shared, “Waiting for y’all back ~we’re always there.”
