CapFilm: “The Grateful Dead Movie.” Grateful Dead celebrate their 60th Anniversary with a highly anticipated return to big screens for the annual theatrical event Meet-Up At The Movies. For a limited time only, this special cinematic event allows fans to come together and celebrate the enduring legacy of the Grateful Dead. This year, Rhino Entertainment and Trafalgar Releasing present the Dead’s eponymous film “The Grateful Dead Movie.” This fan-favorite cult classic follows the legendary band on what at the time was believed to be their final performances, a five-night run at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom in October of 1974, the final night billed as “The Last One.” Featuring stellar live performances, mind-bending animation, interviews with band members and crew, the film has a rare focus on the band’s fans and their deep commitment to the Dead Head lifestyle. Be sure to stay till the end for the exclusive theatrical premier of “China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider,” a bonus live performance from the October ‘74 Winterland shows not included in the official film release. 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Capitol Theatre at the Appell Center, 50 N. YorkFest. YorkFest is an annual tradition in the city, where vendors – especially those from the York City community – display art, crafts, and other talents. The historic venue for the event is the city’s portion of the York County Rail Trail, where residents and visitors can walk outdoors with patches of trees and creek-side views. Hanover Chili Cook-Off: The Exchange Club of Hanover will host the 29th Annual Hanover Chili Cook-Off on Sunday. The Chili Cook Off is a PA State Chili Cooking Championship with the winners going to the world’s competition. This community staple event has great family entertainment and is one of the largest fundraisers for local nonprofit organizations. Activities will include: 3 live bands, cornhole tournament, chili samples, jalapeno eating contest, comedian dunk tank, games of chance plus a great selection of craft/domestic beers, margaritas, food, soda, and water concessions. Other activities include face painting, magician, balloon artist, “Chili the Pepper” and much, much more. New this year for thrill seekers will be the mechanical bull riding contest. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Moul Field Complex, 151 Moul Ave., Hanover. Admission $12, $15 at the gate.
