South Texas native and former San Antonio resident Eva Longoria is returning to the big screen this summer.
Longoria stars as Isolde Pera in The Last Sunrise, which begins streaming Aug. 26 on Amazon Prime Video. The film is based on Anna Todd’s 2025 novel of the same name. Todd launched her career with the bestselling After series.
The film follows Oriah “Ry” Pera, a college student living with a chronic illness, played by Maia Reficco. When Ry’s mother, Isolde, accepts a job in Majorca, the pair move abroad for the summer.
Pera quickly falls for Julián García, played by Fernando Lindez, a charming local who whisks her off on summer adventures. But “her worsening condition and long-hidden family secrets threaten to unravel everything before the summer ends,” according to a news release announcing the film.
Stills from the movie shared by Todd on social media show Longoria’s character, described as an “overprotective mother,” dressed in smart business wear on the Spanish island.
The actress appears to have at least one thing in common with her character. The 2025 season of her celebrity.land series, “Searching for Spain,” saw the award-winning actress travel to the country to explore its history and flavors.
The most recent season of the show, “Searching for France,” gave her the chance to reconnect with her Alamo City roots – and romance. She reunited with her ex-husband, legendary Spurs player Tony Parker, while traveling for the series, she revealed in a social media post.
The couple married in 2007 and divorced in 2011 after she claimed Parker cheated on her with one of his teammates’ wives.
Longoria, who is from Corpus Christi, has maintained her San Antonio ties since then. Her nonprofit Eva’s Heroes operates locally, and in 2023, she hinted that she planned to move back.
