As the area’s year-round population has risen over the years, especially since the pandemic, fall events have really ramped up. You couldn’t attend them all if you tried, so The News Journal/Delaware Online lays them all out for you to choose from each week. This week, there’s music, cars, first responders, seafood and more.
Here’s what to know.
Lilith Fest II
Lilith Fest II, a tribute to women in music, begins 8:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach. The event is nonprofit Project HERA‘s signature event and is $20 to attend. Get tickets at bottleandcork.com.
First State Meet Car Show
This 20th annual car show and competition takes place at Indian River Marina in Delaware Seashore State Park, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20. It’s free to attend. Learn more at hvccde.com.
Riverwalk Freedom Festival
Milford’s largest outdoor festival commemorates the anniversary of September 11, 2001. The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 20, takes place throughout downtown Milford and includes live music, vendors, a kids area, a pet parade, a beer garden, a petting zoo, a rubber duck race, paddle boats, fire truck rides and pony rides. Delaware Seafood Festival
This event supports The Stevenson Foundation and features a variety of seafood, contests, live entertainment, vendors, alcohol, a kids zone and more. It will take place at Schellville, behind Tanger Outlets Seaside in Rehoboth Beach, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Dewey Beach Community Appreciation Public Safety Day
Hosted by the Dewey Beach Police Department and Dewey Beach Lions Club, this event includes first responders, farm animals, balloon animals, a bookmobile, a moon bounce and facepainting. It’s free to attend at the Lions Club, located at 115 McKinley St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20.
Fall Home Expo
The annual fall home expo will take place at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21. It’s free to attend and features over 150 exhibitors, including homebuilders, realtors and a wide variety of home products and service providers. More details at deexpos.com.
Pumpkins in Paradise
This Saltwater Roots event will feature over 40 vendors, as well as pumpkin painting, a hay wagon and a petting zoo. It will take place at Paradise Grill in Long Neck 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21. Visit the Facebook event page for more information.
Festival Hispano
Festival Hispano is set for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 21 on North Race Street in downtown Georgetown. The event draws thousands for live music, food and vendors. The entry fee is $20. Learn more at festivalhispano.org.
