Ex-’Friends’ actor and beloved comedian’s cause of death revealed

The entertainment world was rocked by the death of beloved comedian and actor Pat Finn back on December 22.

He was just 60.

And now we know what took him. People Magazine reported that it obtained Finn’s official death certificate and it lists his cause of death as bladder cancer. People said the death certificate said that Finn had been living with the disease for “years.”

Deadline reported that Finn was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2022. The outlet said the actor’s cancer went into remission, but returned and metastasized. A GoFundMe was set up for him that raised more than $120,000.

“Heartbroken that our dear friend, Pat Finn, passed way,” comedian Brian Stack wrote on X. “As kind as he was brilliantly hilarious.”

Finn has a long list of credits.

That included a run from 2011 through 2018 as the neighbor, Bill Norwood, on “The Middle.” His IMDB said he appeared in 23 episodes of the show.

His list of credits also includes appearances on “Seinfeld,” “2 Broke Girls,” “The Goldbergs,” “House,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “According to Jim,” “3^rd Rock from the Sun,” “Friends,” “Murphy Brown,” and “The George Wendt Show.”

The “Seinfeld” role of Joe Mayo in “The Reverse Peephole” episode is still beloved by fans of the show.

Finn also appeared in 18 episodes of the Nickelodeon sow “Marvin Marvin,” and had roles in his share of movies, too, including “Dude, Where’s My Car,” “I Love You, Beth Cooper,” and “It’s Complicated.”

Deadline reported that the actor had three children — Cassidy, Caitlin and Ryan — and he is survived by them as well as his wife, Donna, and his parents.

“This guy wasn’t just a celebrity to me,” comedian Jeff Dye wrote on X. “He was a friend. One of the best dudes I knew with a PERFECT sense of humor. I love you Pat Finn and I’ll see you again in the after, we can sing together and shake our heads about all the meanness in the used to be.”
