Lady Louise Windsor has been described as “very grounded” by a former royal aide that was present at her premature birth. Lady Louise, who is currently in her fourth and final year at St Andrew’s University, is the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s only daughter.
Now aged 22, the youngest granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip was born on November 8, 2003. The late monarch’s former press secretary, Ailsa Anderson, has now shared her observations about the young royal.
She has said: “I love seeing pictures of Louise. I love the story of her sitting slumped down in a train on a laptop, doing work, either going back or coming home from university.”
Speaking to HELLO!, she continued: “I think she’s very, very grounded. I love the fact that she takes after her grandfather in terms of carriage driving.
“It’s a real passion of hers. It’s a continuation of that amazing interest and hobby”, adding that she’ll be “an interesting one to watch”.
Also speaking of Louise’s younger brother, 18-year-old James, Earl of Wessex, she added: “I think both children look particularly grounded and normal. We don’t see much of them on the balcony, only occasionally.
“If there’s a big set-piece event, they are there, but they’re pretty much under the radar, so they can live their life normally, if there is such a thing as a member of the Royal Family being normal when you’ve got your uncle as the King.”
After her early arrival, Lady Louise spent two weeks in intensive care in the specialist neonatal unit at St George’s Hospital, South-West London.
Previously speaking to OK!, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond recalls the time she heard that Sophie was in labour at 36 weeks pregnant.
She said: “They nurtured Louise, I think a great deal. I think Louise has always held a very dear part in their hearts as any child does, but because it was such a difficult birth. I remember exactly where I was when I got the call that Sophie was in real difficulty and that she had lost pints and pints of blood when she had Louise and she almost lost her life. Louise, as I say, occupies a very special place in their lives, just as their son James does.”
