If the weekend has rolled around and you’re still wondering what to do, Cape Town’s event calendar has plenty happening across the city.

From beachfront silent discos and live music experiences to races and cultural events, here are a few things worth checking out this weekend.

Maskandi Fest Cape Town – Mother’s Day Edition

Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town

The Mother’s Day Edition of Maskandi Fest brings a full day of live Maskandi music to Cape Town this weekend, turning Mother’s Day celebrations into an all-day cultural experience.

Taking place on Saturday, May 9 from 10am to 8pm, the event promises performances from leading Maskandi artists, alongside a lively atmosphere designed for families, friends, and music lovers alike.

Organisers say all genders are welcome, with the festival encouraging guests to celebrate motherhood, culture, and community through music and entertainment.

Silent Sunsets

The Last Hurrah at Clifton 3rd Beach, May 9

Silent Disco at Clifton 3rd Beach returns this weekend for what the organisers are calling their final beach event of the season.

After months of beach parties, vineyard sessions and sunset gatherings, the event returns to Clifton 3rd Beach for one last send-off before winter fully settles in. Set between granite boulders, white sand and ocean views, the location alone makes it one of Cape Town’s most iconic outdoor settings.

The silent disco experience adds multiple music channels through wireless headphones, turning the beachfront into a late-afternoon dance floor with a more immersive twist on the usual party setup.

Nina Simone Tribute Dinner with Auriol Hays

Time Out Studio at Time Out Market Cape Town, V&A Waterfront

Nina Simone Tribute Dinner with Auriol Hays is bringing live music, storytelling and dining together at the V&A Waterfront this Saturday, May 9.

Led by performer Auriol Hays, the evening pays tribute to legendary singer and activist Nina Simone through a blend of live performance, archival storytelling and reflection on music, identity and resistance.

Described as more than just a tribute show, the experience combines an intimate dinner setting with immersive music and narrative, inviting guests into a slower, more thoughtful night out at the Waterfront.

Go market-hopping at The Neighbourgoods Market, Woodstock

If you like good drinks and good vibes, you can never go wrong with this. Woodstock’s weekend market remains one of the most convenient ways to spend a Saturday, with food booths, beverages, clothes, music, and people-watching all in one location. It gets busy, so go early if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.

Absa RUN YOUR CITY: Cape Town 10K

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Cape Town 10K returns this weekend, bringing thousands of runners through some of the city’s busiest roads. Whether you’re participating or simply planning to support from the sidelines, expect a high-energy atmosphere, road closures and plenty of activity around the city as one of Cape Town’s biggest running events takes over the streets.
