A FAMOUS singer will be involved in a forthcoming new TV competition show, it has been revealed.
Sam Ryder will be one of mentors on a new programme which has a working title of Your Song, Channel 4 has revealed through a press release shared yesterday.
The entertainment series is being made by Love Productions, the makers of the Great British Bake Off and The Piano.
Sam will appear alongside fellow musician and Your Song mentor, Paloma Faith.
A Channel 4 spokesperson explained what the programme will be about, they said: “Your Song will celebrate the nation’s hidden voices by giving non-professional singers the chance to perform a song that holds deep personal meaning to them.
Performer – Sam Ryder in Colchester last month (Image: Cameron Poole) “From love ballads passed down through generations to anthems that lifted spirits in difficult times, these powerful performances will take place on a pop-up stage equipped with a live house band.
“Hidden from the singers during their performances, Paloma and Sam will emerge to offer their expertise and heartfelt reactions.
“Alongside the mentors, host Alison Hammond will bring her trademark compassion, humour, and unique ability to connect with our singers – encouraging them to open up and tell their story.”
Sam, an acclaimed songwriter and previous Eurovision contestant, performed three pop-up shows in Essex last week.
He played in Chelmsford and then town where he was born, Maldon, before finishing up in Culver Square, Colchester.

The Your Song stage will be travelling to sites across the UK, including London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh.
Speaking about the TV show, Sam said: “I’m so stoked to be a mentor on Your Song.
“The show is all about celebrating grass roots talent across the country, and hearing their stories through music, which I can’t wait to encourage and uplift.
“I can’t wait to get out on the road and meet everyone.”
Paloma said: “The most inspiring and wonderful thing for me in music are the personal stories of individual people.
“I am delighted to take part in your song so I can be closer to that inspiration.”
An airing date has not been revealed yet.
