Fathom Entertainment July 8 announced the appointment of Jason Brenek as its new CEO following the previously announced retirement of Ray Nutt.
Brenek assumes the position as the company continues its transition from Fathom Events into Fathom Entertainment, a specialty theatrical distributor with major motion picture distribution capabilities.

The company’s upcoming theatrical release of Wildwood, a new stop-motion feature film opening in theaters nationwide Oct. 23, marks a further expansion of Fathom’s programming footprint.
Brenek brings more than two decades of senior executive experience across theatrical marketing and distribution, cinema technology, and global content production and releasing strategy.
Most recently, he served as founder and CEO of MetaMedia, the world’s first global cloud-based platform for delivering movies, live events and content to cinemas at scale, including Garth Brooks, Coldplay, Metallica, Bon Jovi and Blake Shelton performances; live sports from ESPN, the NCAA , WWE and UFC; and esports from Activision Blizzard and Epic Games.
Under his leadership, MetaMedia pioneered real-time, cloud-based content delivery to more than 600 cinemas across 30 leading chains worldwide before its successful acquisition by Qube Cinema in 2025.
“Jason is the right leader to build on Fathom’s remarkable foundation of success in theatrical distribution and take the company into its next era of growth,” said Adam Rymer, chief commercial officer at Regal Global Entertainment — speaking on behalf of the Fathom Entertainment board, comprised of Fathom’s founding owners AMC Entertainment, Regal and Cinemark — which collectively represent more than 19,000 screens across the United States. “We are grateful to Ray Nutt for the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind and thrilled to see what Jason and the incredible team at Fathom will build from here.”
