The FBI has confirmed that over 4,000 calls have come in since video footage of a possible suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping was released to the public on Tuesday, February 10.
An update from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department reads, “We thank the media and the public for the thousands of tips submitted through the various tip lines. PCSD alone has received nearly 18,000 calls since February 1 — more than 4,000 of those in the last 24 hours.” Hundreds of detectives assigned to the case continue to follow up on any and all leads connected to the 84-year-old’s disappearance.
Savannah, 54, and her siblings have released several video statements pleading for the safe return of their beloved mother. Nancy was last seen on January 31 and is presumed to have been abducted from her home on February 1. She has not been seen since.
Officials noted that the FBI is “handling all aspects related to any ransom note(s) or communications involving the Guthrie family.”
Investigators revealed that blood belonging to the mother of three was found near the entrance of the sprawling desert property before the harrowing images were shared with the public.
The set of black-and-white stills and videos from Nancy’s doorbell camera shows a person wearing a ski mask and gloves, carrying a large backpack and a flashlight. Investigators revealed that the person in the video attempted to tamper with the doorbell device, but they were able to successfully recover the data.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the suspect was armed with a gun strapped to their leg. After the footage was made public, investigators received over 4,000 calls in 24 hours.
Savannah has stepped away from her hosting duties at the Today show and the Olympics amid the ongoing search for her mother. Before the footage was released, police stated that there were no official suspects in the kidnapping case.
Authorities are currently conducting an “extensive search” in the Catalina foothills after receiving an anonymous note from someone offering to give up information on the alleged kidnapper in exchange for a single Bitcoin, which is worth over $60,000.
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have established a $50,000 reward and encourage anyone with “actionable information” to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or the PCSD non-emergency line at 520-351-4900.
