A MOVING new short film, Settle, will have its Yorkshire premiere in November – in the town that gave it its name.
Screening as part of the Yorkshire Festival of Story, Settle is an intimate, locally shot, short drama exploring love, loss and the courage it takes to say goodbye. When Alex learns her father’s illness is terminal, she returns home hoping to reconnect, but he refuses to stop working on a missing-person case in the community. Determined to bridge the distance, Alex joins the search, and together they uncover more than they expected.
Filmed entirely in Settle and the surrounding Dales, the production showcases familiar streets and landscapes, giving local audiences the rare thrill of seeing their town on screen.
“We’re really excited to show this short film for the first time in the town that inspired it.” said Sita Brand, CEO and artistic director of Settle Stories. “This story is about the courage it takes to love, even when time feels short.”
Settle isn’t just a film – it’s a love letter to the town, its people and the quiet resilience that defines Yorkshire life. Following the screening, audiences can join a conversation about family, memory and what it really means to come home.
The screening and discussion will take place at The Joinery, Settle, on Saturday, November 8 at 2.30pm. Tickets: https://yorkshirefestivalofstory.com; where there is full details of the festival, which runs from November 3 to November 9.
