The makers of the upcoming Harry Potter TV series are set to release a behind-the-scenes documentary titled Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic, offering fans an early look into the making of the show ahead of its premiere. The documentary will debut on HBO and HBO Max, providing insights into the production and creative process.
Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic is scheduled to release on April 5, 2026, with timings set at 3 pm IST, 7.30 pm in the UK, and 12 pm PT in the US. It will also air on HBO in the US at 8 pm ET/PT on the same day, alongside availability in select international regions.
The documentary is expected to take viewers behind the scenes of the series, showcasing iconic locations such as the Great Hall and Diagon Alley. It will be narrated by Nick Frost and will feature interviews with members of the casting, production design, costume design, and creature effects teams, according to a report by Deadline.
Cast members including John Lithgow, Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu are set to appear in the documentary, discussing their roles in the series.
The new Harry Potter series is slated for release on December 25, 2026, coinciding with Christmas. It is based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J K Rowling, with the first season carrying a title similar to the film’s international naming.
Earlier, Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled the title, teaser and release date of the series on March 26. The two-minute-nine-second teaser introduced key characters including Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Snape and Hagrid, and depicted Harry’s early struggles before discovering the wizarding world.
According to Deadline, the trailer for the first season garnered 277 million non-paid views within 48 hours, making it the most-watched trailer in the history of HBO and HBO Max.
The series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The wider cast includes Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Essiedu as Severus Snape and Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
The show is written by Francesca Gardiner and directed by Mark Mylod, and will stream globally on HBO Max, including in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Italy.
