Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has directed a new music video for the George Harrison classic, ‘Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)’.
The song originally appeared on Harrison’s 1971 album, Living in the Material World, but had never received an official music video until now.
The delightful, feel-good video is set in the gardens of Harrison’s Friar Park residence and uses stop-motion animation. It was worked on by a team of 20 stop-motion artisans who constructed each element by hand, animating each story beat frame by frame.
The project was a collaboration between Toronto-based Nobody Told Me Studios and Tye Down Pictures with Akash Jones serving as animation director and George’s son, Dhani Harrison, was also involved as an executive producer.
Wolfhard proudly says of the project, “To work with the Harrison family and bring this video to life with a team of incredible young Canadian artists has been a great honor. It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for this opportunity. George Harrison has and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me, and his work will live on forever.”
Meanwhile, Dhani added, “Finn is one of the sweetest and most talented people I know of his generation, and he is the perfect person to direct a video for my dad.”
He also gave Wolfhard’s video the seal of approval on behalf of his late father, adding, “My dad would have loved this, and I hope his wonderful, creative, heartfelt ideas help this song reach another generation.”
Harrison earnestly concluded, “Great job, Finn — we love you.”
Wolfhard, who released his debut album Happy Birthday in June, previously revealed how listening to The Beatles’ Help! aged seven was a pivotal moment in his life that sparked a love of music.
He told Kerrang, “I was obsessed with watching footage of The Beatles playing live, and with all their gear and stuff. It was something that I was always really fascinated by. I would have these fantasies as a little kid of being in a band and being onstage playing music with people and for people.”
