Multi-platinum singer-songwriter James Taylor is adding another milestone to his already storied career: his Grand Ole Opry debut. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform at the iconic Nashville venue on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, as part of the Opry’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration.

The performance marks Taylor’s first time on the famed Opry stage, a moment many fans might be surprised didn’t happen decades ago. Opry executive producer Dan Rogers called the booking “amazing,” noting that “the Opry has been built over the last 100 years in large part by songwriters and storytellers. To have one of the very best ever with us to celebrate 100 years is amazing to so many of us.”

Though best known for classics like “Sweet Baby James” and “Fire and Rain,” Taylor’s music has long resonated with the country world. In fact, Opry legend George Hamilton IV helped introduce him to Nashville audiences back in the late ’60s and early ’70s by recording “Carolina in My Mind” and “Sweet Baby James.”

Over the years, Taylor has collaborated with country icons including Vince Gill, Chris Stapleton, and Alison Krauss — winning a Grammy with Krauss for their duet “How’s the World Treating You?”. He also famously performed “Wichita Lineman” alongside Krauss and Lyle Lovett during a White House country music special in 2011.

For his Opry debut, Taylor won’t be alone. He’ll be joined by close friends and Opry members Gill and Emmylou Harris. The evening’s lineup also features Jamey Johnson, Craig Morgan, Scotty Hasting, and even actor Gary Sinise with the Lieutenant Dan Band.

Taylor’s debut is one highlight in a jam-packed October and November celebrating the Opry’s 100th birthday. Festivities include the “Rhinestone Milestone” Plaza Parties, a tribute show honoring 100 years of WSM Radio, and the October 11 induction of Kathy Mattea as the newest Opry member. Big names on the schedule include Carrie Underwood, Patty Loveless, Trace Adkins, Crystal Gayle, and many more.
