The late music icon Frank Sinatra‘s 1955 album, In the Wee Small Hours, is getting a special vinyl re-release later this year to celebrate its landmark 70th anniversary.
Blue Note Records revealed the exciting news on Sept. 15, writing in an announcement that the album, which was originally released through Capitol Records, will be reissued on vinyl as part of Blue Note Records’ Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Series.
The new In the Wee Small Hours vinyl is set to come out on Nov. 14, 2025. The original album was released on April 25, 1955.
According to Blue Note Records’ official description, the new reissue was “mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI), and comes packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket featuring session photos by William Claxton and Ken Veeder, as well as an essay by Rita Kirwan.”
The record label also shared a special behind-the-scenes clip to tease the upcoming release.
In the Wee Small Hours was originally released on two 10-inch LP discs, as well as one 12-inch LP. It was one of the first 12-inch LPs issued in the pop music industry, and its release reportedly helped popularize the use of 12-inch LPs over 10-inch records.

For the new reissue, the album will be on one vinyl, with the first side including the tracks “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning,” “Mood Indigo,” “Glad to Be Unhappy,” “I Get Along Without You Very Well,” “Deep in a Dream,” “I See Your Face Before Me,” “Can’t We Be Friends?” and “When Your Lover Has Gone.”
The second side of the vinyl will include “What Is This Thing Called Love?”, “Last Night When We Were Young,” “I’ll Be Around,” “Ill Wind,” “It Never Entered My Mind,” “Dancing on the Ceiling,” “I’ll Never Be the Same” and “This Love of Mine.”
In the Wee Small Hours was Sinatra’s third studio album release at Capitol Records, following 1954’s Swing Easy!, and his ninth studio album overall. The album was critically and commercially successful upon its release, and it continues to be seen as one of the singer’s best works.
It was a new style from Sinatra, with the album being more mature and self-reflective than all of his previous releases. Many believe that the album is largely based on Sinatra’s relationship with actress Ava Gardner, with whom he was married from 1951 to 1957.
