The Guillermo del Toro version of Frankenstein has now hit theatres. Thus far, the film has been extremely well-received and is on pace to become one of the best horror films of the season. Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth all give absolutely fantastic performances. Overall, this could easily become one of the best movies of the entire year, due to the many incredible facets that make up the masterpiece.
Oscar Isaac is on a generational run and has been part of many of the most important franchises of the last decade. He has notable roles in the MCU, Star Wars, and Dune. Since first debuting on the Silver Screen, he has quickly made a name for himself and his incredible performances. Moreover, every single cast member seems to have similar accolades.
Jacob Elordi is primarily known for Saltburn and The Kissing Booth series, while Mia Goth made headlines for her performance as Pearl. In fact, Frankenstein is far from Goth’s first foray into the horror genre. In many ways, it appears that Mia Goth is attempting to become a new horror staple, and fans are all here for it. That said, the actors aren’t the only thing that is making the movie well-renowned.
The cinematography and effects for the film are all considered top of the line. There are few films that have managed to capture Mary Shelley’s original concept for Frankenstein’s Monster like Guillermo del Toro. Fans who enjoy incredible filmography could enjoy the movie based on that alone.
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein has the potential to be one of the greatest thrillers of the season and the year. Fans of the horror genre and the fantastic author will surely enjoy this mostly faithful adaptation of the novel. Hopefully, this project’s success will allow Guillermo del Toro to finally complete his film based on H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness.
