“The Monkey” is currently the top movie on Hulu, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The horror-comedy based on Stephen King’s 1980 short story centers on a toy monkey that turns deadly. Per the movie’s synopsis, 25 years after the mysterious wind-up toy murders their family, estranged twin brothers (Theo James in a dual role) must confront the cursed contraption when it goes on a new killing spree.

Tatiana Maslany, Christian Convery, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy and Elijah Wood also star in the film, which was written for the screen and directed by Osgood Perkins.

“Kandahar,” an action-packed spy thriller starring Gerard Butler, is currently the top movie on Netflix.

The 2023 film follows a covert CIA operative who gets stuck in hostile territory in Afghanistan after his mission and identity are exposed. Accompanied by a translator (Navid Negahban), the undercover agent must fight off enemy combatants to get out of Kandahar as fast as he can.

“Freaky Tales” is one of the top movies on HBO Max right now. The bloody anthology film follows a myriad of characters — an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, a band of teenage punks and neo-Nazis, and a debt collector — in 1987 Oakland, California, who get wrapped up in a fever dream of epic showdowns and battles that are almost too freaky to believe.

The cast includes Pedro Pascal, Jay Ellis, Dominique Thorne, Normani, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, Angus Cloud and Tom Hanks.

“The Pickup” is currently the No. 1 movie on Prime Video.

The heist comedy, which premiered on Aug. 6, follows a routine cash pickup gone awry when two armored truck drivers (Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson) get ambushed and kidnapped by a crew of ruthless criminals and their ringleader (Keke Palmer).

“Freaky Friday” is currently trending at the top of Disney+ now that its sequel is playing in theaters. The 2003 Disney film (itself a remake of the 1976 classic) follows a bickering mother and daughter who switch bodies, forced to see each other’s worlds differently, as the former is gearing up for her wedding.

The follow-up, titled “Freakier Friday,” follows a similar premise, this time with soon-to-be stepsisters in the mix, too. You can read celebrity.land’s review of the movie here.
