Katy Perry is “totally smitten” with new beau Justin Trudeau, but the feeling may not be mutual, a source tells Star.
The former Canadian prime minister “is incredibly charming and he’s got Katy eating out of the palm of his hand right now, no question,” says the source, “but nobody in his world thinks this is more than a glorified fling.”
Since his 2023 split from his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, the dad of three, “has been very open with friends that he needs to get out there and sow his oats for a while, so the notion that he’d be pulled into something serious with Katy is pretty laughable,” says the source.
As Star previously reported, those close to Trudeau — who was first linked to the pop star, 40, in July — believe he’s going through “a bit of a midlife crisis.”
But the “Firework” singer, 40, is holding out hope of a long-term relationship, the source tells Star.
“Katy tends to get hot and heavy very quickly and she is convinced this has all the potential for being the real deal,” continues the source, adding that the “fear amongst her friends” is that “she’s destined for a broken heart.”
