Recently, people on a Reddit thread shared how meeting their favorite stars turned into total nightmares. These encounters with some of the biggest names in music and Hollywood ranged from rude to outright cruel. Here’s what they had to say.

Tom Cruise 

Even Hollywood legend Tom Cruise received negative reviews. One of the fans said, “Met Tom Cruise and he’s an absolute nozzle. Do not recommend. Met Terry O’Quinn and he is just delightful. Have a picture with him somewhere and he stayed to talk for 30 mins or so and we ate strawberries and talked about honeybees. I was a strawberry farmer at the time and we were at our local Strawberry Festival.” People in the comments asked the user to elaborate on his experience as they couldn’t believe Tom Cruise could be rude. 

Bill Murray 

While Bill Murray is often celebrated for his humour, one Redditor painted a darker picture. “He would always come in 10 minutes before close. Order half of the menu to go, would verbally abuse the servers, never tipped. Even one time told the server she wasn’t attractive enough to wait on him so she should waddle her ass back and find someone who was. Had an 18 y/o hostess fired because she complained to the GM about him grabbing her ass one time when he was drunk as f***. Just a real piece of s*** human.”

Nicki Minaj 

Nicki Minaj’s fans shared shocking stories of the rapper’s diva moments. “One time her and Drake came into a convenience store I was working at in DTLA. Their security strong-armed all actual customers so they could film a little video where Drake pretends to buy her hot chips.” 

Another encounter highlighted her sharp tongue, “Friend worked as a red coat/usher there, and told Nicki ‘you look very pretty.’ And Nicki replied ‘Never in your life speak to me again.'”

Jared Leto

One fan recounted a run-in with Jared Leto, the Oscar-winning actor and frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars. “He was absolutely, shit pissed that we were short on a can of soda that was requested in the rider. (5 diet cokes instead of 6). He spent two seconds in the green room the whole night and didn’t touch anything. He refused to speak to anyone directly and tried to get tough with security when they wouldn’t let some young women in the back. Rest of his band was nice as hell though.” While the band was reportedly friendly, Leto’s behavior left a sour taste for those working behind the scenes.

Jennifer Lopez

Not one or two, many fans also spoke about JLo painting a picture of a star who demands extreme boundaries. “JLo is horrific, you are not allowed to look at her if she is shopping in your store and only communicates to her personal assistant.” Another fan added, “Can confirm. I know people that work at 5-star hotels she’s stayed at. Instructions were given not to look at her and look away when she’s walking through. Seriously.” 

Yet another described her restaurant experience as, “My aunt says Jennifer Lopez is one of the rudest people on the planet. Apparently, when she goes to restaurants, she refuses to look servers in the eye, and orders through her personal assistant. She is also horrible on planes for yelling at flight attendants apparently. And beyond that she just glares at people and never says please or thank you.”

Ray Manzarek

Even legends aren’t immune to criticism. One fan shared a heartbreaking experience involving Ray Manzarek, “My stepsister saw him at Universal Citywalk, she was suffering from leukemia and had undergone a lot of chemotherapy so she very much looked like a 13-year-old cancer patient. She asked him for an autograph and he said ‘$100 no matter what’s going on in your life.’ To this day I can never listen to The Doors the same.”

Drake  

Drake’s behavior wasn’t praised either. “Rented out a party room in a bar I used to work at. Place closes at 2am, showed up at 3 am w/ LeBron and the most ratchet crew I’ve ever seen. After an hour and over $3k in sales, Drake refused to pay for his crew, insisted on changing to individual pay (all those sales went unpaid and un-tipped). Over the next 2 hours, 2 bar backs got assaulted and management did nothing,” a fan revealed.

Kris Jenner 

The matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner empire also earned criticism. “The woman is a nightmare to work with. Kim had an attitude, but she knew what she wanted and could verbalize it without derailing into multiple unrelated tangents. Kylie was sweet. Started every conversation with ‘How are you and your kittens?'”
