Television’s biggest night is almost here. The 2025 Emmy Awards will be presented on Sept. 14 in Los Angeles, where the stars of critically acclaimed shows will vie for the coveted statuettes honoring TV’s best shows and performances from the past year.

Severance led the way with 27 nominations, followed by The Penguin with 24 and The Studio and The White Lotus with 23 apiece. The Last of Us (16), Hacks (14), Andor (14), The Pitt (13), The Bear (13), Adolescence (13), Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (11) and Black Mirror (10) were also among the top-nominated shows.

The Emmy Awards come after the Creative Arts Emmy Award ceremony, which was held on Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles — where the 2025 Emmy Awards will also take place. Awards were handed out across a wide range of categories, including writing, choreography, sound mixing and production design. Big winners of the night include Rebel Ridge in the best TV movie category and SNL 50 for writing for a variety special. That ceremony will air on FXX Saturday, Sept. 13 at 8 p.m.

How to watch

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 14, on CBS and stream live on Paramount+.

Who’s hosting this year?

The show will be hosted by comedian, podcaster and first-time host Nate Bargatze. The 46-year-old was nominated for an Emmy for his 2024 Netflix stand-up special, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, and hosted a Christmas variety special, Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas, on CBS last year.

Who are the nominees?

Severance, Apple TV’s dystopian workplace drama, received nominations in all but one drama category (Guest Actor) for its second season, with Adam Scott and Britt Lower earning nominations for their lead roles.

Apple TV’s breakout The Studio received the most nominations in the comedy category, including three for Seth Rogen, who wrote, directed and starred in the Hollywood satire.

HBO’s The Penguin grabbed the most nods for Limited or Anthology Series, including lead acting nominations for Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. Mike White’s ensemble dramedy The White Lotus (also HBO) was the only other show to receive more than 20 nominations.

Saturday Night Live’s 50th Anniversary Special (12), Homecoming Concert (6) and Beyond Saturday Night documentary (3) received a combined 21 nominations. Saturday Night Live itself grabbed seven nods.

In the battle for late-night supremacy, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on CBS were each nominated in the talk series category. NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was shut out.
