Cameron Mathison (Drew) has issued a reminder to those coming for him because of Drew’s actions on General Hospital, which hasRory Gibson(Michael) andMaurice Benard(Sonny) standing up for him.
The actor has spent a lot of time reiterating that he and Drew are not the same person ever since Drew went to the dark side. However, Mathison felt the need to send another reminder after the hateful online comments upset his daughter, Leila.
General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison Sends Positive Reminder To Trolls
Taking to Instagram, Mathison shared a FaceTime video he had with Leila after she watched some of Drew’s scenes on General Hospital. The sound didn’t work, but Leila’s face spoke volumes.
Mathison used the caption to explain what was going on in the FaceTime and try to reason with the haters.
“At first, she was troubled by how despicable my character was, but then after reading the comments with so much hate and aggression towards me she needed to FaceTime and talk it out🥹,” he expressed in the caption.
The former Hallmark star went on to remind the haters that he has a family that is impacted by the negativity and that he’s simply doing his job.
“Just posting this as a gentle reminder that when we make comments on social media, these people have kids and families and friends and are real people. Remember everyone, it’s just a character and I’m just doing my job😎 I love my job and I’m so grateful for all the support that I’ve got through the years believe me. But maybe this post will help keep in mind that there’s other things to consider❤️🙏🏼☺️,” Mathison wrote.
General Hospital Stars Rush to Defend Cameron Mathison
The comments section was filled with love for the All My Children alum. Benard and Gibson used the comments to defend their General Hospital friend.
“The most kind, chill, generous guy on set 🤙🏼🤍,” stated Gibson, and Mathison replied to him, “@rory_gibson 🥹🙏🏼🥹.”
Benard issued his own message to the trolls, “if you mess with Cameron, you’re gonna have to mess with me and I don’t think you wanna do that.”
Fans also showed up with love for Mathison, as a father and an actor.
“We love you, Cameron! You play despicable Drew soooo well, but at the end of the day he is just a fictional character. Love and appreciate seeing the glimpses of the real you that you share. ❤️,” expressed one fan.
Another fan spilled, “Perfectly said Cameron. You are such a great Dad. It’s so sad that many only know to write hateful words. What a waste of time and energy. You live longer and happier with kindness.”
“Please tell her that we hate Drew because of your phenomenal acting skills. But love, Cameron.❤️❤️❤️,” stated a fan. A different fan expressed, “A wonderful relationship you have with your daughter and a wonderful reminder to Be Kind. Thank you for sharing your ❤️”
One fan noted, “Love you! Not a fan of the new Drew, but LOVE all your work. Thanks for always keeping us checked on how we should love, respect and treat others!!!!”
Those are just some of the sweet comments that were left for Mathison and it had an impact on Leila, who responded, “This comment section restored my faith in the GH watchers!! ❤️❤️ also this video is not my best angle just have to fend for myself.”
Unfortunately, Mathison will likely keep having the hate and trolls taking aim at him as Drew seems to be getting more ruthless than ever on the ABC soap, so it’s a good thing he shared the gentle reminder.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
