GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — Geneva High School senior and up and coming country music artist Crews Wright giving his peers a treat during homecoming week — performing a concert and giving them a first listen of his new album.
“We were kinda iffy at first about it because it was so many moving parts but I was glad perform this in front of my peers it was a success,” Wright said.
His new album ”Crews-n Back Home dropped late Thursday night — it features 10 songs. Students and faculty heard the whole album during the concert.
Wright said the album was in the works for one year and the hard work paid off after seeing the feedback from the crowd.
“We decided to put some home town feeling songs in there let people relate where I’m from,” He said. ” We had a good time making it and performing in front of my friends they act like crazy fools sometimes but they are there when it counts.”
Months ago, the country music world was put on notice after wowing judges and viewers with his talents on the last season of American Idol where he finished within the top 30.
Since then he’s been grinding his senior year of high school, in and out the studio and doing small shows – he credits American Idol for his growth.
“The contestants and judges their feedback always helped me even when it wasn’t on the screen it always helped me especially now I’m back home and playing shows to hopefully spread my wings and go forward.
But he said it would be hard to go forward without the support of the Wiregrass especially the Geneva County area.
“I got awesome friends and family and I say that a lot but its a lifetime and I’m ready to do more shows,” He added.
One of his next biggest shows will be in Dothan November 8th as the opener of country music star Clay Walker at the Dothan Civic Center.
