Country legend George Strait has broken the record for the largest ticketed concert ever in the US.

George Strait will perform at Memorial Stadium, a return that also reunites the country legend with a venue that helped define his stadium touring legacy.

George Strait’s performance at Memorial Stadium will be on Saturday, May 2. This will be the first concert at Memorial Stadium since 1999, which was also headlined by Strait.  The concert is part of the “Death Valley Nights” summer series of stadium shows.

In 2024, Strait played only a handful of one-off stadium shows, including A&M’s Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, where he headlined one of the largest single-ticketed concerts in U.S. history, George Strait: The King at Kyle Field, with 110,905 fans in attendance.

He followed that record-breaking performance with only five live shows in 2025 with stops in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Foxborough, and Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.

What to know about Strait’s return to Death Valley.

Strait teased coming to Clemson

Strait took to Instagram stories to tease his upcoming performance at Death Valley, posting a picture of a Clemson football jersey with his name on the back.

On Oct. 17, Strait confirmed the concert with a social media post, revealing that the performance would feature an “in-the-round” format, allowing fans a 360-degree view of the stage.

“Going back to Death Valley for the first time in more than 25 years feels pretty special,” Strait said in the post. “Can’t wait to see you, Clemson.”

Clemson’s athletic department teased George Strait’s return to Death Valley by posting a short video on its social media accounts with the text “26 years in the making.”

“We’re excited to work with innovative entertainment professionals to deliver exceptional live music experiences at Clemson University,” said Graham Neff, Clemson’s Director of Athletics.

“Memorial Stadium is a world-class venue for hosting events,” Graham said. “This collaboration between Clemson Ventures and Does Entertainment not only elevates cultural opportunities on campus and strengthens our ties to the Upstate community.”

Tickets to George Strait concert at Death Valley

Clemson is using Ticketmaster for people looking to purchase concert seats.

Tickets first went on sale on Oct. 31 of 2025. Tickets for the event range from $231 to more than $1,000, with the priciest currently available at $3,252.

Strait’s one-night-only show in South Carolina

Strait has built one of the most successful country music careers, with over 60 No. 1 singles, more than 60 million albums sold, and performed at various venues worldwide, continuing to draw massive audiences.

His first hit record, “Unwound,” reached No. 6 on the Billboard charts in 1981.

Along with Strait, guests will see two other performers at the concert, Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores.

Flores has appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series, “CBS Saturday Morning,” and PBS’ “Austin City Limits,” while his album, “Welcome to the Plains,” landed on several “Best of 2024” lists such as NPR and Rolling Stone.

Johnson has 42 Gold and Platinum certifications, nearly 10 billion career global streams, and four No. 1 singles.

Death Valley Nights

The upcoming concert is part of the new “Death Valley Nights” concert series, a collaboration between Clemson University Athletics, Clemson Ventures, and Does Entertainment.

According to a news release, this initiative aims to bring top-tier musical acts to the iconic stadium, enhancing the cultural offerings available to the Clemson community.

Morgan Wallen will have stops for his “Still the Problem” shows on June 26 and June 27. Those shows will also have guest artists Brooks & Dunn, Ella Langley, Gavin Adcock, and Jason Scott & the High Heat.
