Blues-rock legend George Thorogood has taken aim at Mick Jagger after the rocker recently celebrated his 82nd birthday.
TMZ reports, after the 75-year-old musician left Houston’s House of Blues Wednesday following his show with The Destroyers, he turned to fans who had gathered outside the venue and shouted “You tell Mick Jagger he can suck on that” as he pointed at the venue behind him.
His declaration was met by supportive cheers, and one person was heard yelling, “U-S-A!” Thorogood has become the latest star to criticize the Rolling Stones frontman.
There is no evidence that there is a feud between the ‘Bad to the Bone’ singer and Jagger, which suggests Thorogood attacked Jagger, and his band is known for their great live performances.
Previously discussing why he and his band The Destroyers have kept the same line up for much of their history, George told Mixdown, “I kept the same band for so long because I pay well, I don’t know about chemistry… I flunked that in school.”
The Beatles guitarist George Harrison previously took a swipe at Jagger.
Members of the two iconic bands frequently interacted and collaborated behind the scenes during the 60s and 70s – sometimes even uninvited.
Harrison suggested that Jagger was a regular fixture during some of their bonding moments.
Harrison recounted a particular event in 1967, when The Beatles traveled to Bangor, Wales, to participate in a seminar on transcendental meditation led by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This was during a period when he developed a growing interest in spirituality.
He explained, “Mick Jagger was also there. He was always lurking around in the background, trying to find out what was happening. Mick never wanted to miss out on what the Fabs were doing.”
