A Maryland judge has issued an arrest warrant for boxing champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis after court records revealed he violated his probation. The warrant stems from a 2020 hit-and-run crash in Baltimore, where Davis later pleaded guilty to four traffic offenses and fled the scene.
Davis has been on probation for more than three years. This isn’t his first issue with the court, as he previously violated his probation terms in 2025 by traveling from Florida to Baltimore without first obtaining permission. Right now, court documents don’t specify exactly what triggered this latest violation.
The legal troubles are stacking up for the 31-year-old fighter. Down in Florida, Davis is facing serious criminal allegations, including attempted kidnapping, battery and false imprisonment. A former girlfriend filed a civil lawsuit against him, accusing him of attacking her on Oct. 27 while she was working as a VIP cocktail hostess at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami Gardens. A club manager noted that security video captured the incident, which was also detailed in a club incident report.
All of this drama comes at a time when boxing officials are trying to get Davis back in the ring. The World Boxing Association recently ordered him to defend his WBA lightweight title against Floyd Schofield. Davis has held that belt since 2023, but he hasn’t stepped into the ring since his March 2025 bout against Lamont Roach Jr., which ended in a controversial majority draw.
He was supposed to face Jake Paul in an exhibition match on Nov. 14, 2025, but organizers canceled that event just days after the Florida lawsuit was filed.
With an active warrant out for his arrest in Maryland, the future looks incredibly murky for one of the sport’s biggest stars. Davis sits on an unblemished 30-0-1 record with 28 knockouts, but this latest development keeps him on the sidelines, extending a layoff that has already lasted 15 months.
