Giada De Laurentiis is taking her culinary skills to Europe—and it’s for a special reason.
With the 2026 Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy, starting on February 6, various outlets will be in attendance to cover the action, including NBC’s hit daytime series Today. The show tapped Giada to serve as an Olympic correspondent, and, as she shared with Good Housekeeping exclusively in January, she’s ready to put her Italian heritage on display.
“This is my fourth Olympics with [the Today show], and I love it,” she told us. “The show has an understanding that by going to the host country, you have to have a food, wine, and beer focus. Like, what is it about this country that we can give to people that is more than just athletic events? We can give them a flavor of what we are, and I think that’s the thing I love most.”
Giada was born in Rome and spent summers there after moving to Los Angeles as a child. She says she’s excited to share her favorite things about the country with everyone.
“I plan on teaching the Today anchors how to make fresh pasta and give them an itinerary of the things to see and do and eat,” she said. “What makes it special for me is that [the Olympics] are in my home country, and we don’t get this often. It’s an honor to get the message of my Italian heritage out there, and that’s why it’s so fun to partner with the Today show and brands like Peroni. They’re both creating a lifestyle that teaches people to slow down, enjoy, and really commemorate these moments together.”
Giada isn’t just using this moment with the Today show to showcase her love of Italy. As she mentioned, she’s also partnering with Italian beer Peroni Nastro Azzurro.
