Memphis rapper GloRilla appears to be close to completing her much-anticipated second album.
In a new interview with People magazine, the Grammy-nominated hip-hop star said the follow-up to her 2024 debut, “Glorious,” is nearing completion.
“I’ve been working on it since my last album dropped. So, it’s been a minute,” GloRilla told People. “I’ve been trying to give it my all. I’ve been trying not to overthink it and make it as good as ‘Glorious’ was. I’m almost at the finish line with it. We’re just doing some extra touch-ups.”
Promising that the project will “sound fun with the summer vibe,” GloRilla added that the new album will expand her sound and approach. “I want to grow every time I drop something, so it’s going to be elevated, but for the most part, it’s going to be fun.”
Beyond that, further details on the album have been scarce. GloRilla released a single, “MANE,” with fellow Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty in June and has also recently collaborated with Ludacris and Keyshia Cole. She’s teased a possible collab with a member of Destiny’s Child as part of the new record but did not specify any further on who else might guest or offer a release date for the album.
GloRilla and Reese’s Puffs
In the meantime, GloRilla released a new bit of music— a remix of the Reese’s Puffs jingle “Eat ‘Em Up,” part of a new ad campaign for the cereal. This includes a limited edition cereal with GloRilla on the front of the box. (“I’m on a cereal box!” GloRilla posted on Instagram, along with some behind-the-scenes photos from the “Eat ‘Em Up” set.)
GloRilla told People that working on the Reese’s remix brought ”back memories of being a kid, and it’s crazy that I get to do the song now.”
