(NewsNation) — Jennifer Lopez is opening up about what her life is like a year after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck.
In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” to discuss her upcoming movie “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” the “Play” singer talked about how hard it was for her to go through her marriage falling apart while filming the movie.

The movie wrapped production two months before she filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024, according to USA Today.

“Barely. It was tough. It was a tough time,” Lopez said when asked how she managed the personal changes in her life at the time, adding that making the movie helped, providing a refuge for her.

“It was the best and the worst of times,” she said. “Every moment on set, and every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy. And then back home, it was not great. It was like, ‘Oh, how do I reconcile this?’”

The “Jenny from the Block” singer and the “Argo” director married in July 2022, reuniting nearly 20 years after their highly publicized relationship and engagement ended.
Affleck and Lopez finalized their divorce in February 2025.

The former couple was also trying to sell their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion. They purchased the home in 2023, but had trouble selling it, which ended with them paying tens of thousands of dollars a month for upkeep, according to NewsNation’s Paula Froelich.
As of July 2025, the mansion still hasn’t been sold and was taken off the market, according to Realtor.

Lopez said that the end of the marriage is something she just had to push through, but says it worked out in the end.

“Honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, because it changed me — it didn’t change me, it helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow, become more self-aware. I’m a different person now than I was last year,” she said.
Lopez’s new film “Kiss of the Spider Woman” releases in theaters on Oct. 10.
