The celebrity chef was seen looking overjoyed as he held Holly Ramsay’s hand on her way into Bath Abbey, where she married Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty this morning
Gordon Ramsay appeared every inch the proud father as he walked his daughter Holly into Bath Abbey on Saturday (December 27), despite the shadow of a public family feud hanging over her groom, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty.
The celebrity chef, 58, was seen beaming with joy as he arrived at the historic abbey ahead of the midday ceremony, holding Holly’s hand as the pair entered through the grand wooden doors.
Gordon carefully helped lift part of his daughter’s elaborate wedding dress as she made her way inside. The lavish ceremony took place at Bath Abbey, which was transformed for the occasion with hundreds of white roses which were used to decorate the building’s entrance.
Guests started filing in from 11am, and security and media barriers were put in place for the A-list attendees. The couple are due to celebrate with a glamorous reception later this afternoon at the Kin House country estate in Wiltshire.
While Adam and Holly are clearly focused on celebrating their union today, the build-up to their wedding has been dominated by reports of a rift in the Peaty family. Adam’s parents, Caroline and Mark Peaty, are believed to be missing from the wedding after a bitter fallout with their son over certain aspects of the nuptials.
Tensions are thought to have escalated after Adam’s mum was not invited to Holly’s hen party. Caroline also reportedly had a dispute with Adam over her choice of outfit for the wedding, which Adam is said to have rejected as the cream dress she planned to wear was too similar in colour to Holly’s bridal white.
Adam’s aunt Louise took to social media to air her grievances over the way Caroline was treated, ranting: “@hollyramsayy I’m so glad that you had a great hen do. As a bride, you deserve that.
“However, as a person you were divisive and hurtful towards a woman, who I have loved and continue to love deeply. A woman who opened her home and heart to you.
“You decided, for whatever reason, not to invite her, your prospective mother-in-law to your hen night yet Adam invited his father-in-law, your dad, to his stag night. You invited your mum (quite rightly) and even your mum’s assistant, your sisters, your friends, my niece, but not my sister, your future mother-in-law.”
This prompted Adam to issue a statement online acknowledging the situation while asking followers to respect his privacy, adding that there are “two sides to every story”.
Although Adam’s family situation has been challenging, Gordon Ramsay has openly supported his new son-in-law and shared a heartfelt tribute with both Holly and Adam ahead of their wedding this morning.
He wrote: “I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law @adam_peaty! I love you so much @hollyramsayy and couldn’t be a prouder Dad xxx.”
This isn’t the first time Gordon has showered Adam with compliments, as he wrote in to the High Performance podcast earlier this year gushing: “Honestly, I could not ask for a more down-to-earth, respectable future son-in-law. What he’s achieved is incredible, and he’s not done yet. Looking forward to catching up soon.”
