Festival season is in full swing. Once again, one of the East Coast’s greatest music festivals descended on the Big Apple for 3 days of iconic music, jaw-dropping performances, and show-stopping choreography. Governor’s Ball 2026 was held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and brought out some of the best for NYC’s biggest event. Over a simmering-hot June weekend, some of music’s biggest acts split across 3 days and give fans moments they will cherish forever. With A$AP Rocky, JENNIE, Lorde, Baby Keem, Stray Kids, and Kali Uchis (who had to cancel because of the weather) as headliners, the amount of talent made for an epic event.

Probably one of the hottest K-pop bands out right now, KATSEYE opened up Friday with a flash of color and style. In just the past year, KATSEYE has continued to dazzle with their on-stage performances, and Gov Ball was no different. With such a huge fanbase, they showed out. decked in vibrant clothing, the girl group swept through their greatest hits while in sync step with each other.

With only one EP out and another on the way in August, it’s a wonder how these women managed to tap into internet culture with their cheeky, fun music and quotable lyrics. One thing is for certain, KATSEYE is the life of the party whenever they enter the building, or stage for that matter.

K-Pop fans weren’t the only fanbase eating this week. Gov Ball gifted the emo and Hot Topic kid in all of us with Pierce the Veil. One of the best bands to come out of the early 2000s hardcore emo scene, Pierce the Veil kept things cool with hyper-focused lyrics while under the late afternoon sun. Going through a mixture of their hits and deep cuts, the band was a bright spot at the event.

Coming off arguably one of the best rap albums this year, headliner Baby Keem brought the rapid-fire energy and precision. Performing hits from his new album, Ca$ino, the rising rap star stood ten toes down and delivered on the opening night of the festival. If anyone had any doubts about the start of the summer season, Baby Keem settled all doubt, proclaiming, “The Summer of New York starts now!”

Late into Friday night, all eyes were on the Lorde. The GRAMMY award winner shut the city of New York down with her infectious performance and style. The singer took fans through a musical time capsule as she played a lot of vintage tracks and many of the dance-pop-heavy new tracks from her latest album, Ultrasound.

The crowd remained emotional and well-intuned with the singer the world has seen come up in their eyes from her teens. At times somber and reflective on her musical journey, Lorde discussed the years since her previous Gov Ball performance, back in 2017.

As for Saturday, Day 2 started with a bang. Chanpan, the Asian American trio, played to a well-hungry crowd. Over the past year, Chanpan has built a solid fanbase online and seems to be transitioning well with bookings for major festivals. The band went through their viral hits in anticipation of their upcoming EP, autogratis, later this month.

Wet Leg kept the party going well into the middle of the day. The band released one of the most engaging albums last year with moisturizer and the crowd showed just how much they loved it. Throughout their performance, the band commanded the stage with their ever-growing presence, and it paid off in the end with a killer rock show.

For the closing set of the night, Stray Kids showed why K-pop fans camped out at the barricades for hours in anticipation of their set. Even before stepping on the stage, the band was met with waves of adoring fans. The well-choreographed boy band danced and moved with precision to many of their songs before a well-packed crowd. Filled with colorful smoke and an amazing light show, Stray Kids were one of the best on the weekend.

For Day 3, the schedule was shifted due to a storm on Saturday night. Blood Orange was moved to Sunday, while Kali Uchs was forced to cancel altogether (presumably to return to the stage next year for the 2027 lineup). For a chill sunny Sunday, the alt R&B artist was a welcome afternoon reset to finish out the weekend. With such an extensive catalog, Blood Orange ran the gauntlet.

America’s favorite rock “psyop” band, Geese, tore up the stage. With the commanding voice of a rock god, Cameron Winter and the gang performed a standout show. With each note, his voice parted the crowd of fans. The music sent shockwaves through the mosh pits forming at the base of the band.

Another K-pop royalty, Jennie, showcased just how much she has grown since Blackpink. Everyone wants to be like Jennie, and the fans know it. Running through a mashup of her hits so far in her career, Jennie can convert even the most anti-K-pop fans. She’s not like anything we’ve seen before, and her rapidly rising star power confirms it.

Closing out Gov Ball 2026 was New York’s own, A$AP Rocky.

The founding member of ASAP Mob made his return to music earlier this year with his first project in 7 years, Don’t Be Dumb. Always an artist who marched to the beat of his own 808s, the fashion/creative director/ actor delivered on a show-stopping performance akin to his music. The hitmaker closed out Day 3 with a fury of hits that had even Rihanna, who was in attendance, grooving. Complete with choreographed dances, pyrotechnic fireworks, and a helicopter, there’s a reason why he was tapped to close out the festival.

From his early mixtapes to his latest studio album, A$AP Rocky ran through them all. The rapper also brought out fellow rapper Tokischa to perform their viral hit, “Flackito Jodye.” Amid the blazing heat, dust storms kicking up throughout the duration of the festival, and Mother Nature closing Day 2 early, A$AP Rocky made sure to leave fans with a moment to remember.
