Nancy Guthrie has been missing for 105 days as the hunt for the 84 year old grandmother reaches its 15th week, leaving investigators puzzled by her disappearance.
A recent development has disclosed that reportedly no new leads have emerged in months, forcing law enforcement to work with scarce evidence in their efforts to solve the case.
Authorities are said to have only a single hair strand, a glove discovered near the residence, and doorbell camera footage showing a masked, armed individual interfering with the device moments before Nancy was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the early morning hours of February 1.
Despite widespread circulation of the footage and images of the man for months, no identification has been made.
No additional suspects have been publicly named, and multiple investigative avenues connected to the images – including efforts to locate individuals possessing the same backpack and gun holster – have yielded no useful information.

A source has now expressed concern to Page Six that the investigation has stalled. They stated, “There’s not one single lead since that footage was released. Although you don’t see his face, you can see his eyes, we know how tall he is, there’s a recognizable backpack….come on.” Nancy’s relatives, including her prominent daughter, Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie, are growing increasingly exasperated by the sluggish advancement in the investigation by both local authorities and federal agents. The family has not enlisted a private investigator to support efforts in locating Nancy, while the $100,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest continues to stand.
In the meantime, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, 70, has acknowledged that investigators are intentionally withholding certain information as the case unfolds. In an interview with KOLD, he confirmed there is “absolutely” information about Guthrie’s disappearance that hasn’t been disclosed publicly, reports the Irish Star.

He explained, “It’s not done because we got to keep it secret. It’s done because we got to protect our case.” Despite mounting public frustration over the absence of updates, Nanos maintained that headway is being achieved and expressed confidence that charges will ultimately be filed.
“I believe at some point in time, we will make an arrest in this case. And whoever that individual is, that individual will have a right to a fair and impartial trial,” Nanos stated. Speaking with People, Nanos emphasized, “There’s way too much work to be done, that is ongoing, with some of the physical evidence we have. And we’re not going to give up on it just because it’s been 100 days.”
He recognized public dissatisfaction but noted that protracted investigations frequently demand perseverance. “But this is just like any other case. Sometimes it takes a long time,” he remarked.
Nanos also came to the defense of his team, emphasizing that investigators are carrying out much of the work away from the public eye. “Criticizing those who are actually out there touching it, smelling it, handling it, doing that work – that’s just absolutely shameful,” he continued. “Those young men and women are working hard every day.”
He further stated, “When you have the best minds of the country working on problems, I think they’re gonna solve them. It just takes time.”
