Halloween is a fun time for all ages, but some of the events may be aiming a little too old for kids and families to enjoy, especially with Denton’s reputation as a college town.
Even so, there are plenty of kid- and family-friendly events going on around town for Halloween, whether you’re visiting with the family for a day or you live here full time.
Mary’s Not So Scary Trick-or-treat (Weekly)
Where: The Parker House, 8550 W. University Drive
When: Wednesdays, 4 to 8 p.m.
The Parker House is a haunted house, but on Wednesdays they dial down the fear factor and open the house for trick or treating.
East Side Halloween Movies (Weekly)
Where: East Side, 117 E. Oak St.
When: Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
Watch Halloween Movies every Wednesday of October at East Side. Family-friendly movies are shown at 6 p.m., then mature movies at 9 p.m.
Graveyard Tales (Weekly)
Where: City Hall Cemetery, 215 E. McKinney St.
When: Saturdays, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Listen to spooky stories performed by the Tejas Storytelling Association and the Lil’ D Storytelling Guild every Saturday in Denton’s pop-up skeleton cemetery.

Mean Green Monster Mash

Kids under 13 and their families are invited to meet UNT student athletes, trick or treat and participate in games and activities alongside a food drive.
Boo at the U
Where: TWU Student Union, 301 Administration Drive

Draw with local comic artist Bryan Kelly and design your own Frankenstein’s Monster.
Goblins and Glow Golf
Where: North Lakes Driving Range, 2009 W. Windsor St.
When: Friday, Oct. 17, 7 to 10 p.m.
Glow-in-the-dark elements will line the North Lakes Driving Range during this all-ages golf social. The event will feature a closest-to-the-pin challenge when the sun sets.

Movie in the Park: ‘The Addams Family’

Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival
One of the biggest fall events in Denton, the Day of the Dead Festival is packed with fun for the whole family, and coincides with Cirque du Horror performances, a family-friendly Halloween musical.
Haunted Parlor

When: Saturday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Salon NV will be hosting a haunted house in their parlor. PG versions of the tour are available, making the event good for both kids and adults looking for a scare.
Halloween Social Skate
Where: Lone Star Events Center, 222 S. Mayhill Road, Suite 101
When: Saturday, Oct. 25, 6 to 10 p.m.
Join the North Texas Roller Derby for an open skating event for all ages. Costumes are encouraged and skates can be rented.
Spooky Symphonic Scavenger Hunt
