Halloween is a fun time for all ages, but some of the events may be aiming a little too old for kids and families to enjoy, especially with Denton’s reputation as a college town.

Even so, there are plenty of kid- and family-friendly events going on around town for Halloween, whether you’re visiting with the family for a day or you live here full time.

Mary’s Not So Scary Trick-or-treat (Weekly)

Where: The Parker House, 8550 W. University Drive

When: Wednesdays, 4 to 8 p.m.

The Parker House is a haunted house, but on Wednesdays they dial down the fear factor and open the house for trick or treating.

East Side Halloween Movies (Weekly)

Where: East Side, 117 E. Oak St.

When: Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

Watch Halloween Movies every Wednesday of October at East Side. Family-friendly movies are shown at 6 p.m., then mature movies at 9 p.m.

Graveyard Tales (Weekly)

Where: City Hall Cemetery, 215 E. McKinney St.

When: Saturdays, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Listen to spooky stories performed by the Tejas Storytelling Association and the Lil’ D Storytelling Guild every Saturday in Denton’s pop-up skeleton cemetery.

Crafts: Halloween STEAM

Where: South Branch Library, 3228 Teasley Lane

When: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Mean Green Monster Mash

Where: Loveless & McNatt Families Practice Facilities, 1307 Bonnie Brae St.

When: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 6 to 8 p.m.

Kids under 13 and their families are invited to meet UNT student athletes, trick or treat and participate in games and activities alongside a food drive.

Boo at the U

Where: TWU Student Union, 301 Administration Drive

When: Thursday, Oct. 16, 6 to 8 p.m.

Crafts: Monster Mashup

Where: UNT CoLab, 207 N. Elm St.

When: Friday, Oct. 17, 4 to 8 p.m.

Draw with local comic artist Bryan Kelly and design your own Frankenstein’s Monster.

Goblins and Glow Golf

Where: North Lakes Driving Range, 2009 W. Windsor St.

When: Friday, Oct. 17, 7 to 10 p.m.

Glow-in-the-dark elements will line the North Lakes Driving Range during this all-ages golf social. The event will feature a closest-to-the-pin challenge when the sun sets.

Demo: Mad Science

Where: UNT CoLab, 207 N. Elm St.

When: Saturday, Oct. 18, 4 to 6 p.m.

Trick or treat: Serve After Dark

Where: Serve Denton, 306 N. Loop 288

When: Monday, Oct. 20, 5 to 7 p.m.

Visit Serve Denton after dark for safe trick-or-treating around the office space.

Pumpkin Painting

Where: Denton Maker Center, 728 N. Elm St.

When: Monday, Oct. 20, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Crafts: Magic Wand Making Party

Where: The DIME Store, 118 E. McKinney St.

Lego Club Monster Mashup

Where: Emily Fowler Library, 502 Oakland St.

When: Wednesday, Oct. 22, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Kids ages 6 to 10 can join the city’s Lego Club to create unique Halloween monsters.

Crafts: Halloween Paper Masks

Where: Denton Maker Center, 728 N. Elm St.

When: Thursday, Oct. 23, 6 to 8 p.m.

Make a Halloween mask out of a paper bag at this workshop from the Denton Maker Center.

Movies: ‘Halloweentown’

Where: Courthouse-on-the-Square Lawn

When: Thursday, October 23, 7:15 to 9 p.m.

Watch the 1998 family film Halloweentown from the Courthouse-on-the-Square lawn across from the Fine Arts Theater, plus get updates and information on the theater’s plans to reopen in 2026.

Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat

Where: Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center, 1117 Riney Road

When: Friday, Oct. 24, 1 to 3 p.m.

Movie in the Park: ‘The Addams Family’

Where: Quakertown Park, 700 Oakland St.

When: Friday, Oct. 23, 5 to 10:30 p.m.

Visit Quakertown Park for a showing of The Addams Family for all ages, followed by the PG-13-rated Twilight.

‘Haunted’ House

Where: MLK Jr. Rec Center, 1300 Wilson St.

When: Friday, Oct. 24, 6 to 10 p.m.

Denton’s Day of the Dead Festival

One of the biggest fall events in Denton, the Day of the Dead Festival is packed with fun for the whole family, and coincides with Cirque du Horror performances, a family-friendly Halloween musical.

Haunted Parlor

Where: Salon NV, 305 S. Locust St.

When: Saturday, Oct. 25, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Salon NV will be hosting a haunted house in their parlor. PG versions of the tour are available, making the event good for both kids and adults looking for a scare.

Halloween Social Skate

Where: Lone Star Events Center, 222 S. Mayhill Road, Suite 101

When: Saturday, Oct. 25, 6 to 10 p.m.

Join the North Texas Roller Derby for an open skating event for all ages. Costumes are encouraged and skates can be rented.

Spooky Symphonic Scavenger Hunt

Where: First Christian Church, 1203 W. Fulton St.

When: Sunday, Oct. 26, 4 to 7 p.m.

Find musical performances around every corner as you follow the clues and solve this spooky scavenger hunt designed for ages 4 to 12.

Trunk or Treat: Share the Harvest

Where: FUMC Denton, 201 S. Locust St.

When: Sunday, Oct. 26, 5 to 7 p.m.

Boo Bash

Where: UNT Union, 1155 Circle Drive

When: Tuesday, Oct. 28, 6 to 8 p.m.

Trick or Treat in Downtown Denton

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 5 to 7 p.m.

Trunk or Treat at First CPC

Where: First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1424 Stuart Road

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 6 to 7:45 p.m.
