Hard Rock is doubling down on its commitment to live entertainment with a proposal to add another theater to its $4 billion Strip resort project.
Hard Rock Las Vegas wants to build a 2,000-seat theater that will add roughly 179,000 square feet to the project’s existing footprint, according to a land use application submitted to the Paradise Town Advisory Board.
The new theater intends to provide a more “intimate” setting for various live entertainment acts, a senior Hard Rock Las Vegas executive explained.
The Paradise TAB is expected to consider the application during its next public meeting on June 30. If approved, the Board of County Commissioners would vote on the proposal in July.
The “west theater” addition would complement the former Love Theater, which housed The Beatles “Love” at The Mirage for nearly 18 years, which is being converted into a 5,000-seat Hard Rock Live arena. The Mirage Theater, formerly known as the Danny Gans Theater, will be repurposed for a yet-to-be-announced concept, the casino said.
Plans submitted to the county for review show almost 61,000 square feet for the auditorium area, while the remaining space will be used for pre-function and backstage area (67,465 square feet), back-of-the-house (37,940 square feet) and the theater’s upper-level technical area (12,778 square feet). The theater will be five stories tall, according to the application.
The “west theater” will connect directly to an interior promenade, and a karaoke venue will be on the second floor.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and the 660-foot Guitar Hotel Las Vegas are expected to open in the late second half of 2027.
When finished, Las Vegas’ newest hotel-casino will feature approximately 3,600 hotel rooms, nearly 175,000 square feet of gaming space, two spas, multiple pools, two live entertainment venues, and dozens of restaurants, lounges and retail outlets.
The Guitar Hotel will consist of 42 stories and house 675 hotel rooms and suites. The tri-tower structure that was once The Mirage hotel-casino has been completely scraped and is undergoing a total interior renovation.
Hard Rock anticipates needing roughly 6,000 employees when the property opens.
