Netflix executives are reportedly “done” with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Hollywood insiders have claimed. The report paints a grim picture of the once-lucrative partnership between the streaming giant and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, suggesting their five-year deal has soured amid repeated retellings of their royal exit story, underwhelming ratings, and strained professional interactions.

One Netflix source bluntly told Variety: “The mood in the building is ‘We’re done,'” claiming the couple’s perceived pattern of repackaging the same narrative — from their 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan onwards — has exhausted the streamer. The article, published amid fresh fallout from Netflix’s recent decision to divest from Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever, warns that the partnership “may continue to taper off, and with it will Meghan and Harry’s remaining showbusiness lifeline.”

Insiders accused Archewell Productions of “poor communication” and described the couple’s “bedside manner” as having “ruffled feathers” in meetings.

Critics labelled Meghan’s With Love, Meghan series “lacklustre,” with its second season reportedly “cratering” and further eroding confidence at Netflix.

Explosive claims included allegations that Netflix chief Ted Sarandos was “fed up” with the pair and would not join calls with Meghan without a lawyer present — assertions strongly denied by both Netflix and the Sussexes’ lawyer, Michael J Kump.

Netflix called the remark “absolutely inaccurate,” while Kump described it as “blatantly false,” noting Meghan speaks and texts regularly with Sarandos and has visited his home without legal chaperones.

The piece also revisited past tensions, claiming Netflix was “annoyed” and “blindsided” by the couple’s 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare, projects seen as diluting the impact of their Netflix documentary.

Further barbs targeted Meghan’s meeting style: sources said she tends to “talk over or recast” Harry’s thoughts mid-sentence, often with a touch to his arm or thigh, and “disappears” during Zoom calls to signal offence.

Mr Kump dismissed the former as a misogynistic trope of her “bossing” her husband, while Harry called it “categorically false.”

The lawyer attributed occasional Zoom absences to her working from home as a mother of young children. Variety suggested A-list talent and directors remain “hesitant” to collaborate with the Sussexes, with several projects allegedly canned and sales agents uninterested in Archewell involvement.

Despite Netflix’s public commitment to a “first-look” deal — reportedly worth around £45 million initially, though figures vary — the article questions whether the couple are truly living the “Hollywood dream” after inconsistent output and a “diminished hold on the popular imagination.”

A Sussexes spokesperson insisted they had “cooperated with Netflix throughout,” pushing back on claims of blindsiding or non-cooperation. The revelations follow Netflix’s March divestment from As Ever, launched in 2025 to tie in with With Love, Meghan but now proceeding independently — leaving the streamer with unsold inventory.

Yet opportunities persist: Meghan is set to headline a luxury “girls’ weekend” retreat in Sydney from April 17-19, her first Australian visit since 2018, charging up to £1,700 for VIP tickets including gala dinners and photos with the duchess. The event, at the InterContinental Coogee Beach, promises yoga, sound healing, and manifestation sessions.

As Hollywood gossip swirls, the Sussexes’ Netflix chapter appears increasingly precarious, with insiders signalling the fairy-tale alliance may be nearing its end.

Archewell and Netflix have been contacted for comment.
