Prince Harry was seen attempting to mask his “inner anxiety” during a recent public appearance with his wife, Meghan Markle, according to a body language expert. The couple attended the annual Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala in New York City last Thursday.
At the gala, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were honored with the Humanitarians of the Year award for their efforts through the Archewell Foundation to create a safer online environment for young people and their families. Before accepting their award, they navigated a red carpet swarming with paparazzi.
Meghan, 44, appeared self-assured as she graciously smiled at the flashing cameras, a stark contrast to Prince Harry, 41. It comes after ‘disturbed’ Prince William got angry with Meghan over missing Princess Diana diamonds.
The Duke of Sussex seemed to be grappling with some “inner anxiety,” which he attempted to conceal, noted body language expert Judi James.
In an exclusive interview with the Express, James analyzed their red carpet moment: “Prince Harry adopts a slightly fiercer, campaigning look here, checking the buttons of his jacket in a self-comfort checking ritual to hint at some inner anxiety, but Meghan adopts a look of sweet serenity and confidence, allowing herself to be towed along while thanking the photographers politely while also flashing Harry a tie-sign to let him know when it’s time to move to the next spot on the red carpet.”
Their two children, six year old Prince Archie and four year old Princess Lilibet, did not accompany the couple to the event.
Both Meghan and Harry delivered speeches at the gala upon receiving their honor, outlining their goals to continue addressing the dangers that social media can pose.
This represents a mission they have championed since establishing The Archewell Foundation in 2020.
Their efforts subsequently resulted in the creation of The Parents’ Network – a program designed to support families whose children have died due to social media-related incidents.
The prince declared at the event: “Tonight, we are all here together to focus on what remains one of the most pressing issues of our time..
“Let me share a number with you: 4,000. That’s how many families the Social Media Victims Law Centre is currently representing – families whose children have been harmed or lost forever to social media.”
