He will continue with his own commitments, including engagements with charities WellChild, Scotty’s Little Soldiers, and Invictus, but may alter announced plans for his family.
Family could fly in for the day
Among the options under consideration are to fly them in and out of Britain in one day, from mainland Europe, where the family is thought to be on holiday.
The Duke is said to have been given assurances from Buckingham Palace that there is “hope” a meeting with the King could happen.
The Sussexes’ private security team has drawn up its own risk assessment, which has identified serious concerns.
A source said: “Protective security has always been about risk, not job title.
“A role may change, but the threats faced because of who someone is, where they come from, and what they have done in service of their country, do not simply disappear.”
A government spokesman said: “The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.
“It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”
