Prince Harry is said to be requesting guarantees about how Meghan Markle will be received should she join him on his U.K. visit later this year.

The Duke is scheduled to return to Britain for the Invictus Games, though whether his wife will accompany him remains unconfirmed.

A source said: “Harry is coming in with all these demands on behalf of Meghan, and it’s rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way.

“Harry says he has no choice, based on how badly things have gone in the past,” according to Radaronline.com.

The Duchess has joined her husband in the U.K. just twice since their departure from royal responsibilities six years ago, in what became known as “Megxit.”

Meghan’s sole returns to Britain since 2020 were for two significant royal occasions: a short visit to the National Service of Thanksgiving for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee at St Paul’s Cathedral in June 2022, and the late Queen’s funeral that September.

Following their withdrawal from royal responsibilities, the couple has consistently generated headlines with their public comments about the family and its operations.

Meghan drew criticism during an interview with Oprah, where she faced accusations of ridiculing royal customs and traditions in her interactions with Harry’s grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. Harry took aim at multiple members of the Royal Family in his tell-all memoir Spare, notably his brother Prince William and his stepmother Queen Camilla.

Sources suggest his alleged stipulations have frustrated various family members, following years of tension between the warring factions.

The source added: “The last thing he wants is Meghan walking into a situation where she feels judged, and he says all he’s asking is that she’s treated with basic respect and not cast as the bad guy before anything’s even happened.”

They added that the duke is insisting he get “reassurance” from his family that “everyone will keep things polite and give her a fair chance.

“A large number of senior royals are outraged that Harry’s had the audacity to make all these demands ahead of his trip,” the source continued.

“The fact that, once again, it all centers around Meghan and presumably ensuring she’s treated with kid gloves.”
