Prince William and Kate Middleton are “unlikely” to show up for Prince Harry’s 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, England, according to a royal insider.
Reports emerged weeks ago that the Duke of Sussex, 40, had agreed to extend invitations to the Royal Family for the competition, an event organized by The Invictus Games Charity, which the prince established in 2014 to support wounded former military personnel.
While it remains unclear whether the royals will make an appearance at the event, which is still two years away, a royal expert believes Prince Harry‘s brother and sister-in-law will skip the occasion, reports Daily Express UK.
Despite the considerable time remaining before the event, it’s widely acknowledged that the brothers have been at odds in recent years, with sources indicating they are no longer speaking and this situation isn’t expected to improve anytime soon.
It’s understood that while the feud started before Harry stepped away from royal duties in 2020, it has steadily deteriorated, with the breaking point between the siblings reportedly being Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare.
“Prince William and Catherine are not thought likely to attend,” royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said.
“I strongly doubt Princess Anne will attend. However, there is a long time to go and anything could happen!” he added.
Fitzwilliams also noted that if Harry’s father King Charles, 76, doesn’t attend, then it’s probable he will dispatch other royals to represent him at the event.
While it’s not yet confirmed, Fitzwilliams suggested that the queen might send Harry’s cousins, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, who are reportedly still on good terms with the prince.

“Invictus, which Harry founded, is an important military charity. We don’t yet know if the king, who is commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, will attend,” the expert explained.
“We do know that if he does not, he is certain to be represented. He might ask Beatrice and Eugenie, both of whom get on with the Sussexes, to represent him.
“This would be quite within his right as monarch, although it would obviously be seen as a snub. In any event, they (Eugenie and Beatrice) are expected to attend.”
The 2027 event is scheduled to take place at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham from July 10 until July 17.
