Harry’s body language ‘gives away true feelings’ about King Charles – Royals – News

Prince Harry appeared “optimistic and upbeat” with an “impish-looking smile” prior to his meeting with his father, King Charles, according to a body language expert.

Judi James, a renowned body language specialist, noted that Harry seemed hopeful about reuniting with his father as he was seen out earlier in the day.

“Harry’s rather impish-looking smile today had echoes of his famous grins as a child, which in turn gave the smallest possible clue that he was going back into his role as a son again with this meeting with Charles on the cards,” she observed. The news comes as Harry’s ‘out of hand’ reunion was rejected by Prince William for one ‘firm reason’.

“His smile looked optimistic and upbeat as Harry was clearly in a world he knows best here, meeting and hugging a paralympic pal as he joins up for a visit,” continued Judi.

“There was still one non-verbal signal of anxiety though with the way his fingers were tucked into his shirt and his belt in the kind of stomach or waistband touch he often does when he’s feeling vulnerable.”

James suggested that the Duke of Sussex might have been experiencing mixed emotions ahead of his highly anticipated reunion with his father, the King. “With the meeting with his father booked then he could be going into it with pleasure tinged with some sense of apprehension,” she commented, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, photos of Harry in the car en route to the reunion showed he was “calm” and “reflective,” she added.

“Harry’s expression looks reflective and rather calm here, with his raised hand clasp looking like an echo of some of the older Windsor men like his father and grandfather. Hopefully that suggests a wiser approach to the meeting rather than any form of confrontation”.

King Charles and his son the Duke of Sussex are believed to have enjoyed an afternoon tea during their encounter today at Clarence House. The monarch reportedly held a private tea with his son throughout a 55-minute gathering this afternoon.

This marks the first occasion the duo have met face-to-face since February 2024, just days after the King revealed he was receiving cancer treatment.

Speculation about a potential reconciliation has intensified following Prince Harry‘s return to the UK on September 8 to visit various charities and causes he champions.

Harry touched down in London on Monday for the annual WellChild Awards, before traveling to Nottingham on Tuesday for an engagement followed by a visit to Imperial College London today.

Charles reached the Royal residence at 3:45pm after departing from Balmoral earlier this afternoon, while Harry appeared more than an hour following his father, arriving at 5:25pm.
