This week, Netflix is closing the chapter on one of the most beloved young adult franchises.
On July 17, the long-awaited Heartstopper movie, titled Heartstopper Forever, arrives to the streaming platform. Following three successful TV seasons, Nick and Charlies story is coming to an end with a feature-length movie based on the latest graphic novel by Alice Oseman.
Heartstopper: Volume 6 was released on July 2 and has already taken book lovers by storm. Goodreads recently named the book the “top book of the week,” with almost 10,000 five-star ratings and a 4.64 out of five star rating overall at the time of writing this article.
“Sobbed reading this masterpiece. Absolutely love this series and these characters,” Goodreads user kodeereads wrote. “I will forever think about them.”
“Perfection. Makes my heart so warm,” said Tai Reid. “This movie is about to wreck me.”
A third Goodreads user, posting under the name Chad, commented, “17,000 stars for how absolutely perfect this ended.”
Oseman announced the movie back in April 2025, voicing her excitement for the project.

Heartstopper Forever, starring Kit Connor as Nick and Joe Locke as Charlie, is a coming-of-age LGBTQ+ romance that continues the teens’ love story.
“It’s a final Heartstopper story, like the TV series, but with the benefit of film length, we really sit with the characters on their journey. I think it will offer a deep final insight into the characters fans love,” Oseman explained to Rolling Stone.
Oseman said that she had a “really special final day on set,” which involved a key scene of the movie that celebrates all things Heartstopper.
“We were all very emotional,” the author said. “It felt like the last day of school before everyone goes off into their own individual futures. It was very emotional and we are so proud.”
