The Heifetz International Music Institute (HIMI) has announced the appointment of Elizabeth McGuire as its next Executive Director. She will step into the role as of October 1, 2026, succeeding Benjamin K. Roe, who has served a successful 12-year term.
McGuire comes to HIMI from a position as Executive Director of the Colorado Music Festival and Center for Musical Arts. Alongside the successful day-to-day running of a nationally recognized summer music festival, she also doubled the organization’s annual operating revenue.
Additionally, her work secured new philanthropic contributions, strengthened the organization’s governance, modernized its operations, and advanced its long-term strategic priorities.
McGuire’s career has seen her hold executive positions at orchestras, music festivals, and arts education organizations: she has served as Executive Director of both the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Association, as well as holding leadership positions with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestras.
Benjamin Roe will offer McGuire his support during the transition, and he will take on a new role as the organization’s President Emeritus.
