‘Her royal shine is fading’: Princess Beatrice’s ‘tear-stricken call’ to husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi revealed as rumours hint at marriage breakdown

An insider recently told Mail on Sunday that the Italian aristocrat was “pulling away” from the British royal in the wake of the recent Epstein files release, which detailed links between Beatrice’s parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, and convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Furthermore, the property developer’s posts on social media showed him spending time at a beach club in Miami and a conference in Palm Beach where he promoted his interior design firm Banda, while his wife remained in the United Kingdom. 

His overseas travels meant he was out of the country around the time his wife’s father was arrested.

Now, Woman’s Day has reported that Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi’s relationship is on the rocks, with the Princess concerned about the distance between them in the wake of the Epstein fallout. 

“She knows Edo’s pulling away and she’s worried he’s losing interest now her Royal shine is fading,” an insider told the publication. 

The source went on to reveal the details of a tense phone call between the couple, in which Beatrice demanded her husband return to the United Kingdom to help her support her family.

“She knows he’d be under enormous pressure from his family to stay away from the York scandal, but they have two kids together,” they said.

Mapelli Mozzi is “very proud” and “can’t take this hit on his reputation”, the insider claims, particularly when he feels he has nothing to do with the crisis at hand. 

The phone call comes just days after it was revealed that Mapelli Mozzi was putting space between himself and the controversy surrounding Beatrice’s family in order to protect his growing business. 

“Things haven’t been great for a while between them, but Beatrice has been determined to soldier on and forge a path through,” a source told Mail On Sunday.

“She wants to stay together, but he seems more and more distracted by work and travel. Just when she needs him most, he’s been pulling away.”

A second source chimed in with the claims, saying Mapelli Mozzi was increasingly focused on safeguarding his professional reputation.

“Banda has been taking off lately and he’s found some great investors among the wealthy Cotswolds set, but it’s taking up a lot of his time and energy,” the source said.

“He’s all about himself at the moment. You have to feel for Beatrice.”

The Italian businessman is not alone in his concern about the current scandal surrounding Beatrice and her relatives, his family is reportedly worried too.

A source recently told New Idea that the Mapelli Mozzis are “beside themselves” and “furious” that their son has become “wrapped up in the York wreckage”.
