2025 was an undeniably strong year for cinema; theaters saw a large number of moviegoers for films like “Superman,” “Final Destination Bloodlines,” “Sinners” and even “A Minecraft Movie.” As new releases begin rolling out, it is safe to assume that this craze for cinema will only continue. These are the nine films I most look forward to watching in 2026.

“People We Meet on Vacation”

Though “People We Meet on Vacation” came out on Netflix on Jan. 9, I came into 2026 excited to watch the Emily Henry adaptation. Starring Tom Blyth and Emily Bader, this charming romantic comedy takes viewers through a relationship spanning over many years in a style similar to “When Harry Met Sally.” While there are a few scenes that canonically take place in New Orleans, almost half of the entire movie was filmed in Louisiana – including scenes set in Ohio and Boston. Most Louisianans would be able to spot iconic areas including the French Quarter, Tulane University and The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

“28 Years Later: The Bone Temple”

Following the release of “28 Years Later” in June 2025, “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” centers the young Spike, played by Alfie Williams, as he becomes wrapped up in a sadistic cult. Additionally, the movie continues the story of Ralph Fiennes’ Dr. Kelson as he studies a rabid zombie alpha. This film is the latest in the tetralogy, with Nia DaCosta replacing Danny Boyle as director from the first and third installment. This zombie horror will be on the big screens on Jan. 16.

“The Moment”

This mockumentary is sure to be a source of exciting neon visuals, iconic sound bites and all of your favorite “Brat” songs. Loosely based on the film’s star Charli XCX’s own Brat Tour, the film parodies the pressures of fame, fandom and fortune. Following its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 23, it will be in American theaters on Jan. 30.

“Wuthering Heights”

Since the Emily Brontë novel was first published, “Wuthering Heights” has been nothing if not controversial – and the Emerald Fennell adaptation is only furthering this streak. While the costumes and characterization certainly do not fit the bill of the source material, it will undoubtedly be an interesting watch when it is theatrically released on Feb. 13.

“The Drama”

“The Drama” is a romantic drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. The big names play an engaged couple who are shaken with a shocking revelation days before their wedding. Though the film takes place in Boston, Zendaya’s character Emma was revealed in trailers to be from Baton Rouge. Hopefully, we can get a taste of home when this film premieres on April 3.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2”

Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt revive their iconic roles in this sequel 20 years after the original cult classic, “The Devil Wears Prada,” was released. Now, instead of Streep’s Miranda Presley lording over Blunt’s Emily Charlton, the two are fierce competitors. Though Anne Hathaway is also coming back, not much is known of her character’s arc. Be ready to vogue into summer with this hitting theaters on May 1.

“Disclosure Day”

This fresh Steven Spielberg sci-fi centers on man’s first encounter with extraterrestrial life. With stars including Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Coleman Domingo and Colin Firth, Spielberg delivers a visually compelling and narratively suspenseful film sure to draw in plenty of movie-goers on June 12 when it is released.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day”

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to release on July 31. While fans know the movie will follow Tom Holland’s Peter Parker directly after the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Marvel has yet to release information regarding the plot.

“Dune: Part Three”

Over a decade after the events of “Dune: Part Two,” “Dune: Part Three” follows Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, as he navigates the cost of influence and fanaticism ruling over a majority of the universe. Director Denis Villeneuve has said that the third installment will be made without thoughts of keeping in line with the rest of the trilogy; clearly, fans are in for a surprise when the film is available in theaters on Dec. 18.

From indie mockumentaries to high-budget blockbusters, this year is already promising an array of entertaining stories. Having so much variety between superstars, genre and theme, there is positively something for everyone.
