Sunday night was a big night for music at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. It was a moment to celebrate the industry, but also an opportunity for many artists to speak up about the things that matter to them.

One of the biggest wins of the night — and one of the biggest moments for Spanish music and the Puerto Rican music industry — was Bad Bunny’s wins. Bad Bunny is not a stranger to winning a Grammy, having won three before this year’s award ceremony, but he is a newcomer to winning Album of the Year.

“DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” is the first ever Spanish language album to win a Grammy for Album of the Year. He also won Best Global Music Performance for his song “EoO.”

Bad Bunny also won a third Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album, and during his acceptance speech, he said, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE Out. We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we are not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”

He continued by saying, “The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we need to do it with love.”

Billie Eilish also spoke out against ICE when she won Song of the Year for “Wildflower.” Eilish said, “As grateful as I am, I don’t feel like I have to say anything but no one is illegal on stolen land.”

Every year, one of the most anticipated awards is Best New Artist, and this year’s winner was British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean. Her win comes as no surprise after her unbelievable rise in popularity this year for her 2025 album “The Art of Loving.” She thanked her team, her family and emphasized at the end of her speech that she’s the granddaughter of immigrants, saying “I’m a product of bravery.”

Lady Gaga also had her moment to shine on Sunday. The pop star won Best Dance Pop Recording for her song “Abracadabra” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Mayhem.” She also performed her fan favorite and Grammy award-winning song “Abracadabra.”

Bruno Mars performed his newest song “I Just Might” from his upcoming album “The Romantic,” which is set to release at the end of February. Dressed in all red to match his band and set against a heart-shaped backdrop with a large heart behind his band wearing all red, Mars brought the bright and smooth fun that he and his music is known for.

Leon Thomas, known by many for his role on Nickelodeon’s TV show “Victorious,” has recently been getting noticed for his music. Released in August 2024, Thomas’ album “MUTT” won the Grammy for Best R&B Album.

During a night of impeccable performances, Tyler, The Creator blew away the Grammys audience by performing a medley of songs from his most recent albums “Chromakopia” and “DON’T TAP THE GLASS.” The American rapper ended his medley with his hit song “Sugar On My Tongue.” Tyler, The Creator won a Grammy for Best Album Cover for “Chromakopia.”

Other winners include Samara Joy for Best Jazz Vocal Album and FKA Twigs for Best Dance/Electronic Album.

Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey won her second Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for “A Matter of Time.” In her speech, she thanked her fans and her family, but she took the time to emphasize the importance of and need for arts education. She said, “I owe everything to my music education, to my arts education. We cannot cut arts funding —it’s so important. What you all do here is so important.”

Some additional wins include “Sinners” for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media and “Kpop Demon Hunter’s” for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Golden.”

One of the biggest awards every year is the Record of the Year. This year, the award was won by Kendrick Lamar, SZA and others for their song “Luther.” This song was written as a kind of love letter to the artist they sampled, Luther Vandross. In their speech, Lamar and SZA talked about how important Vandross’ music was to them.

SZA ended the speech with an uplifting message: “Please don’t fall into despair. I know that right now is a scary time,” she said. “There have been world wars, there have been plagues and we have gone on. We can go on, and we need each other. We need to trust each other and trust our hearts.”

Grammys night is always a big moment for artists and their fans. Free from any real controversy this year, the Grammys was a nice moment for the music industry to come together and celebrate such a unifying artform.
