HBO’s Harry Potter reboot is running at full throttle. Another day, another leak has made its way onto the internet. After sneaking a peek at Harry and Hagrid wandering the streets of London, likely heading towards the Leaky Cauldron, and then glimpses of the Weasley siblings at Platform 9¾, we are now getting a look at another major character from the novels.
A video clip, reportedly shot by a lurker in Wardown Park in Luton, England, shows two young actors – emphasis on young actors – who, judging by the book descriptions, appear to be Lily Evans and James Potter.
The original had its shortcomings, as it only superficially explored Harry’s family. Beyond a few shots in memories or photo albums, we barely saw the dynamics within Harry’s family or how all of it led to the journey he embarked on. It’s hard to blame this, though, since the limited runtime of the films was a valid constraint.
Looks like the series is fixing this issue, thanks to its planned decade-long runtime. We might get to see the pre-marriage era of Potter and Evans. And since the series will explore their journey from the beginning, it makes sense to cast young actors for these roles.
As a reminder, we did see younger versions of Lily and James in Deathly Hallows Part 2 during Snape’s flashbacks, played by Ellie Darcey-Alden and Robbie Jarvis, respectively, but those appearances were really very brief to strike any chords with fans.
Harry Potter reboot is planned as a decade-long series, with Season 1 premiering sometime in 2027.
