The Backstreet Boys just finished up their first round of shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas, and a new report sheds light on just how much they raked in every night.
Brian, Nick, Howie, Kevin and AJ packed the house all 21 nights of their latest residency. The Sphere holds 17,000 people and features an immersive video component to coincide with the live concert—featuring hits from the band’s several decades of making music.
A new report from TMZ claims the group grossed about $4 million per show, equivalent to what some artists make for a stadium gig. The BSB had to cough up a lot—somewhere between $7 and $8 million for a creative fee to develop the production, but that’s already been taken care of thanks to the sell-out crowds.
TMZ says VIP tickets, platinum tickets and travel packages have really helped to contribute to the group’s profits as those add-ons are much more than a basic ticket price.
Of course, there’s also the fact that all the shows are played in one venue—helping to keep tour travel costs to a minimum and translating to more profit for the group and those associated.
The space-themed residency, celebrating the band’s Millennium album has been so popular the group recently announced they’ll do seven more shows in December and January and an additional seven shows in February.
It’s unclear if they’ll add shows to that list, but 35 total gigs at $4 million a night rings up to $140 million total … that’s a lot of money to be had.
Among the other groups and acts to hit The Sphere so far are Dead & Company, U2, the Eagles, Kenny Chesney, Phish and Anima.
The Sphere is currently showing The Wizard of Oz movie as an immersive experience for fans who want to watch the classic on a giant screen.
