It’s the biggest night of awards season, the one we’ve been eagerly anticipating for months: the Academy Awards. When are the Oscars?
The 98th Academy Awards will take place tonight, March 15, 2026, with the ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. eastern.
How to tune in
Those with cable can watch the ceremony for free on ABC, or through ABC.com or the ABC app. For cord-cutters, the show will also be streaming live on Hulu.
Live TV services including Hulu Live TV, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV will also be offering the broadcast, and many are available with a free trial.
Who is hosting?
Conan O’Brien is back for a second year in a row to serve as emcee for Hollywood’s biggest night. The decision to have the comedian return was announced almost a year ago, just two weeks after O’Brien hosted the previous Oscars, which attracted the highest viewership for the telecast in five years. “Conan delivered an unforgettable performance at the Oscars, and we’re honored to have him and the producing team back next year,” said Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, when the news was announced in 2025. “Conan’s unique comedic style perfectly captured the moment, and I’m excited to have his talents back onstage next year to helm another indelible performance.”

The major story of this year’s crop of nominees, of course, is Sinners’ record-breaking 16 nominations—the most ever received by any movie in Oscars history. Not too far behind is One Battle After Another with 13 nominations, followed by Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, and Sentimental Value, each with 9 nominations, and Hamnet with 8.
